Dubbo last week saw a draw of 4200 prime cattle for last Thursday sale. This was a rise of some 2000 head on the numbers for the previous two weeks.
The cattle presented in very good order with many pens having been finished on crop. The market was stronger across the board with very strong demand for all categories on offer.
Mark Barrow and Barry Callinane, Elders Dubbo, sent a fax advising the result of some sales at Dubbo Prime Cattle Sale and the Store Sheep Sale the previous day at Narromine.
Ian Walker and family for the second cattle sale in a row lined up with a big contingent of prime cows which sold to strong competition reaching 155c/kg, weighing 636kg returning $987.
Miller Pastoral Co Coonamble sold steers for 188c/kg weighing 630kg and returning $1183.

Received a fax from Polly Jackson advising the column of a beef production day which her company Landmark Narromine is holding on Wednesday July 28 at Waitara Angus Stud Trangie commencing at 9.30am.
With an impressive line-up of guest speakers delving into such topics as the value of EBVs to achieve your breeding objectives, what to look for in structural conformation, bull behaviour patterns, live animal assessment, identifying, market suitability, muscle scoring and much more. Promises to be a top day to secure valuable cattle information.
Waitara will also have on display, many of their Angus bulls which will be offered at their on-property sale on August 13. While the entire day is free Polly needs to receive an RSVP and may be contacted at the office on 6889 1177 or mobile 0429 004 739.

Big numbers of lambs and mutton continue to flow through Dubbo’s Monday Sale on a regular basis with the last two draw showing numbers at both sales in excess of 45,000 head.
The yards are obviously “chockers” with all mutton basically being sold in the cattle yards. At the risk of harping all vendors need to advise their agents of their stock details prior to 2pm, Friday.
Unannounced stock arrivals or stock booked in after the draw can cause your agent extreme difficulties.
