Buyer pays $230 for ewe with triplets

High sheep and lamb prices are being seen all over the region, with the Central Tablelands Livestock Exchange (CTLX) Carcoar, seeing their own record high price.

Lindsey Fryer of McCarron Cullinane, Orange, has reported the sale of a single ewe, with triplet lambs at foot, sold for $230, during the regular fat lamb and sheep sale.

“That’s the highest price animal sold in the Carcoar sheepyards,” Mr Fryer said.

The ewe, a Damara- White Suffolk cross, was sold by McCarron Cullinane for the account of Kirby Brothers, Spring Terrace.

She was purchased by Ian and Lance Bonham of Bathurst.

A sister to the ewe, with a single lamb, was also for sale, making $170.

Mr Fyer reported the balance of the sale was also strong, attributing it in part to the season.

“In the Orange district we’ve had over 400mm of rain since the first of July,” Mr Fryer said.
