Junior judges put to test

The next generation of wool growers have been parting fleece and casting their eye over structure as part of the junior judging.

A number of young sheep enthusiasts took part in the competition held as part of the 2010 Rabobank National Merino Sheep Show.

In the under-16 section, Rohan Kopp of Towalba, Peak Hill placed first, with Victoria Wythes of Rockdale, Canowindra second, and Queensland based Charlie Brumpton third.

Charlie was awarded ‘best oral presenter’ of the junior section, as well as being presented the ‘best handler’ in the section.

Charlie also received the overall Malcolm Swain Memorial award for the Best Handler of the Sheep Show.

In the 16-25 jackaroo Will McAilpine of Boonoke Deniliquin was awarded first in the senior section, as well as overall winner.

George Lawrance of Eeenaweena, Warren was second in the judging and also received the award for best senior oral presentation, while James Wilson of Uardy, Hay was third.

Matt Blake of Haddon Rig, Warren was awarded an achievement award.
