The Western regions of NSW have been revitalised by rainfall, and this years Western Catchment Management Authority photographic competition reflects that.
The 2010 ‘Life and Light in the Western Catchment’ competition, is celebrating its 13th year with the theme ‘Of drought and flooding rains’.
According to the Western CMA’s Community Education Officer, Marybeth Baker, the theme comes directly from a line of Dorothea MacKellar’s 1904 poem, ‘My Country’.
“This year’s theme celebrates how the Western Catchment has been revitalised through the rainfall the Western Catchment has received over the past 12 months,” Ms Baker said.
“Some parts of the Western Catchment have received their best rain in thirty years and country that had been dry for so long is now coming alive again.
“The theme also refers to the positive changes we can see within the community as a result. There are happy people, beautiful landscapes and the regeneration of wildlife – both animals and plants - that live in the Western Catchment.”
The competition is free to enter with four sections; open colour, open black and white, secondary student (colour or black and white) and primary student (colour or black and white).
