The competition leaders looked to be in all sorts of bother as South Dubbo's Mathew Wakely ripped through them to take 7-12 and have the Blacks dismissed for just 62, inside 23 overs.
Wakely took at least one wicket in six of the eight overs he bowled and would have thought his effort was a match winner at the changeover.
But it wasn't to be for the Hornets as Adam Wheeler and Malachi Dutchke, who earlier scored a valuable 22 with the bat, did a demolition job of their own.
Wheeler took 3-11 off eight overs and Dutchke 4-8 off 4.1 overs as Souths were bowled out for just 47, with none of the Hornets batsmen reaching double figures.

Four run-outs killed off any chance Colts YDs had of snatching a surprise win over Macquarie, with the Blues claiming a comfortable eight-wicket win on Saturday.
Colts YDs batted first after winning the toss and looked good early as Mick Davis tormented the bowlers on his way to 35 quick runs.
After being 0-43 at one stage the YDs were bundled out for just 102 as Macquarie's fielders made them pay for poor running between the wickets.
Macquarie lost two early wickets but never looked in much danger, with Tom Peacock (60no) and Angus Cusack (33no) getting them over the line inside 13 overs.
