Cowra residents will be able to collect a 10-cent rebate on selected plastic and glass bottles under the NSW state government’s Return and Earn scheme. 

Cowra is just one of the four collection points across the Central West and Orana regions operating as the Return and Earn scheme which went live on December 1.

Wellington, Dunedoo and Coonabarabran are the other Central West and Orana launch Return and Earn sites.

Wellington will operating a reverse vending machine site, the same as Cowra, and both Dunedoo and Coonabarabran will operate over-the-counter return sites.

The collection point will be operating from 7 to 10 with an assistant on hand for the first few weeks of the scheme to help explain how the collection point works.

Under the Return and Earn scheme most empty 150-millilitre to 3-litre drink containers will be eligible for the 10-cent refund, materials that may be eligible for a refund include: PET, HDPE, glass, aluminium, steel and liquid paperboard.
