Cattle producers are invited to a free field day near Cowra to be held on Friday, March 16 to talk all things beef.
Held at John and Jannet Leigh's farm “Nandewah”, Dr Paul Cusack from Australian Livestock Production Services will advise on setting cattle up to perform in a feedlot, Teys Australia will give an insight in to markets and specifications, and Jeff House of Jeff House Livestock Forbes will summarise feedlot trial results.
"The focus is performance and compliance so a lot of the discussion will cover off on how to get the most out of your cattle," said Central Tablelands Local Land Services Senior Land Services Officer (Livestock) Brett Littler.
Mr Littler will run a practical session demonstrating livestock assessment - a skill especially applicable in dry seasons like the region is currently facing.
A district veterinarian will also give an update on current local health issues and flag anything producers should be looking out for.
We are fielding a lot of calls at the moment related to the dry conditions so we will touch on a lot of this management advice on the dayCentral Tablelands Local Land Services Senior Land Services Officer (Livestock) Brett Littler
"Farmers can expect to learn some really valuable information from our speakers on industry trends and markets, and then Local Land Services staff from both the Central Tablelands and Central West will fill in the gaps with the practical tips they can go home and implement on farm if they aren't already," Mr Littler said.
"It's a chance to get some great cattle producers from this region all in the one spot to focus on what's best practice and share our thoughts on all things cattle related."
"We are fielding a lot of calls at the moment related to the dry conditions so we will touch on a lot of this management advice on the day to make sure we're helping producers make informed decisions heading in to the cooler months."
The field day will be held at "Nandewah" 6469 Lachlan Valley Way, Cowra, from 9:30am to 3:30pm.
It is free with morning tea and lunch provided but please RSVP for catering purposes to firstname.lastname@example.org or 0427 007 398 and BYO chair.

After 11km turn right onto Nandewah Rd. The destination will be on the left after a short distance.
