While Orange was brushing a light dusting of snow off its shoulder after a flurry on Friday morning, those waking up on higher elevations near Mount Canobolas were treated to fields of white as far as the eye could see – which with visibility down, wasn’t very far.
Students at Canobolas Public School walked into a winter wonderland on Friday morning, with snowballs flying as students walked in the gate.
While snow was less likely later into Friday, with a chance at rain or even thunderstorms in the afternoon with a maximum of six degrees.
Those playing sport in Orange on Saturday morning will need to rug up, with a minimum of one degree overnight before warming up a barmy 12 degrees in the afternoon.
Mount Canobolas remained closed as of midday Friday, with an inspection to be held late on Friday afternoon to determine the safety of the road.
