Despite temperatures as low as -3.5 degrees earlier, the 41st annual Mudgee Field Days has got off to a great start.
Warming up nicely, the field days were officially opened by wood chopping legend David Foster (OAM) doing the honours.
Mr Foster, ambassador for Atlantic Oils, is the only athlete to win 21 consecutive world titles and the only athlete to have won more than 1000 titles in their career.
“I am delighted to be here to officially open the 41st Mudgee Field Days,” Mr Foster said.
“Congratulations to the organisers of this fine event.
“If you see a farmer, go and shake their hand. They are the backbone of this great country.”
Organisers are hopeful of attracting a crowd in excess of 20,000 people to the two day event.
