The region of Orange commenced its the three-day inaugural Winter Fire Festival on Friday. The streets of Millthorpe light up for the first event of the festival, with a night market taking place on Friday night. As well as fireworks there were fire drums which warmed people in the town’s historic main street. Many other events have already sold out or at capacity. However, people can still attend Fiery Friday at Ross Hill Wines, on Saturday there’s a fire and poetry event in Molong and The Aussie Fire Buckets’ Camp Oven Cook Off at Eugowra, while on Sunday people can still attend the Fiery Cargo Village Market Day, Fire Feast Sunday at the Greenhouse of Orange or a Sunday Roast at the Lord Anson. People can also visit www.orangewinterfirefestival.com.au for more information and events. Miss Mitchell said she was delighted with the response to the various events. “I think because it’s the first year we were thinking people would get behind it,” she said. She said the festival could also be rekindled next year. “We are definitely looking to keep it as a continuing event getting bigger and bigger as the years go on,” Miss Mitchell said.
