Once again the small rural town will pay tribute to legendary musician David Bowie when it hosts the annual Let’s Dance Carinda Festival this October long weekend.

Up to 800 people are expected to attend the third annual Let’s Dance Carinda Festival.
Let’s Dance Carinda Tribute Committee are are in the throes of putting together a wonderful time for everyone to enjoy and hopefully lift the morale in the drought-stricken country.
Committee secretary Joy Dare said the inuaugural event attracted about 200 people.
“Then there was about 450 people at the second event (in 2017) and this year we’re hoping it builds up to 800 people,” she said.
“People who couldn’t make it last year told us that they were sorry and are hoping to attend this year.”
Entertainment will commence on the Friday night of September, 28 at the sports oval with The Thin White Ukes.
The following day will see a a ceremony of ‘Welcome to Country’ and an Indigenous Dance Group.
Various bands will perform during the afternoon. Regular festival entertainer Jeff Duff and his band will perform Saturday night.
But it’s not just the musical acts that festival goers can look forward to. A free drumming and belly dance workshop will be run over the weekend with Bellylicious.
The Thin White Ukes will conduct a free ukulele workshop.
Saturday will also be filled with various exhibitors and some will include the popular Red Shoe Tent.
There will also be horse and buggy rides, face painting, an ice cream van, jumping castle and bucking bull.
Raja, the clown from Walgett, will add a wonderful touch for the children on Saturday, handing out lollies throughout the day.

Sunday will see a street parade we have planned a street parade.
Afterwards Jeff Duff will re-enact Bowie’s classic song Let’s Dance at the Carinda Hotel at 2pm.
A two-day dog trial event has also been planned to coincide with the festival at the sports ground starting from 9am on the Saturday. For information and entries phone Trevor Harland 6828 4226.
Free showers, toilets and camping are accessible at the sports ground where the festival takes place. Breakfast will be available with a continuous barbeque during the weekend and meals at night.
Fuel will be available in Carinda.
Strictly no BYO alcohol to evening events. Bar available Friday night and Saturday. Hotel is open as normal all weekend.
Eftpos available, but limited cash. No ATM in Carinda.
Adult admission covering the whole weekend is $60 with children aged 13 to 17 half price.
Family passes available being $150 for two adults and two or more children 13 to 17 years.
For those just wishing to attend the Friday night it will cost $25.
For Saturday only an adult pass costs $35, with children 13 to 17 years half price.
Free admission all children 12 years and under.
