Dubbo Turf Club hosts Tunes on the Track: the Beatlez Go Bush

Music lovers have danced away a summer evening at an inaugural Dubbo event that’s made a firm start towards becoming an annual fixture.

Tunes on the Track: The Beatlez Go Bush brought a Saturday night celebration of the Fab Four to the Dubbo Turf Club, a venue usually known for its racing action.

Counting was continuing but upwards of 1000 people had attended, turf club general manager Vince Gordon reported on Sunday.

“It was a lovely day and evening,” he said

“For our first event, we were really happy with it.”

The response to the night has organisers looking to the future.

Mr Gordon said the idea of the event was to showcase the turf club’s facilities and stage an event on a date between the Parkes Elvis Festival and the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

It was to offer visitors a reason to stop in the city, as well as entertainment for the people of Dubbo in what was traditionally a quiet time of year, he said.

They were hopeful Tunes on the Track would become an iconic event and bring people to Dubbo, he said.

Key major partners were the NSW government, through its Back to the Track: regional racing grants 2018 program and DCFM 88.9, along with Dubbo Regional Council, and the club was grateful for their support, the general manager said.
