The 10-day festival from April 5-14 will include over 70 events which showcase more than 40 cellar doors and farm gates during the region’s autumn harvest and vintage.
Orange360 general manager Caddie Marshall said new events such as Taste Local on the Lawn – an afternoon picnic on top of the information centre – are in response to families wanting more ways to get involved.

“We’re trying to continuously refine the program and one of the things we’ve found is those more accessible events are really sought after. The community is actively looking for events they can be a part of,” she said.

Ms Marshall said part of what makes FOOD Week so special is the variety of homegrown goods available at that time of year.
“It really shows how diverse we are as a region. Autumn is just a wonderful, beautiful, magnificent time of year – it’s the most picturesque time of year,” she said.
In its 28th year, Ms Marshall said Australia’s longest-running regional food festival will continue to promote the region’s amazing producers, chefs, cooks, winemakers, butchers, shops with local produce, cafes, restaurants and all other food, wine and drink outlets.
Tickets will go on sale at 10am on Monday. Hard copies of the program will be available later in the week.
HIGHLIGHTS OF FOOD WEEK ...
The signature events of the 2019 program:
- NIGHT MARKET: When: 5.30pm-8.30pm, Friday, April 5. Where: Robertson Park. Cost: Gold coin. A friends and family favourite with stalls representing the Orange region’s chefs, cooks, caterers, providores, wine, cider and beer makers, with a focus on the provenance of our local produce. Join us in the park for a beautiful evening of great local food, wine, cider or beer, foot tapping music and communal dining under the stars.
- PADDOCK TO PLATE: When: 9am-5pm, Saturday, April 6. Where: Orange Visitors Information Centre and Regional Museum. Cost: Free. See what’s on for the week, get help with last-minute availability for events, and buy local products.
- FOURJAY FARMS HAZELNUTS AND SOPHIE HANSEN: When: 9am-5pm, Sunday, April 7. Where: Orange Visitors Information Centre and Regional Museum. Cost: Free. Hear the origins of this successful hazelnut orchard and how when grown in the rich volcanic soils they are excellent for good health. This chocolatier changed careers to now create beautiful chocolate delights incorporating local produce. Presenter talk from 10am-11.30am.
- AUTUMN GRAZING DINNER IN BLAYNEY: When: 6pm-10.30pm, Monday, April 8. Where: Buses depart at the rear of Orange Civic Theatre. Cost: $135. Starting at twilight with canapes in spectacular Carrington Park, celebrate the rich taste of the Orange region’s diverse food and wine with local award-winning chef, Richard Learmonth. Expect a night of culinary delights and dancing.
- TASTE LOCAL ON THE LAWN: When: 4.30pm-6.30pm, Friday, April 12. Where: Orange Visitors Information Centre and Regional Museum. Cost: $20. Relax in a special place on the award-winning lawn roof of the Information Centre. With a spectacular view over the Orange CBD, enjoy gourmet producers’ platters, beautifully matched with Highland Heritages wines and Pioneer beers.
- FORAGE: When: 10.30am-6pm, Saturday, April 13. Where: Buses depart at the rear of Orange Civic Theatre. Cost: $130pp. Take a magnificent 4.1-kilometre stroll through some of Orange’s most picturesque vineyards and soak up the breathtaking vistas through to Mount Canobolas. All the while being sustained on your stroll with a nine-course degustation menu of local wine and tasting plates, with live music along the way.
- SUNDAY PRODUCERS’ MARKET AND BRUNCH: When: 8.30am-12.30pm, Sunday, April 14. Where: Cook Park. Cost: Free. Come along to one of Orange’s most spectacular settings to enjoy brunch prepared by well-known cooks and producers. Stroll the market to meet and greet with the producers’, taste and purchase their produce.
