A POLICE woman has allegedly been assaulted with officers calling on a member of the public who might be able to assist their investigation.

The incident occurred in Narromine on Monday at 7pm, Orana Mid-Western Police District said in a statement.
"Police stopped a car in Murgah Street, Narromine, when one of the occupants of that car got out, assaulted the police woman, and ran from the scene," officers said.
Police are now calling on Walter Murphy who they believe may be able to help them with their investigation.
"We believe he may be able to assist us with our investigation into the assault of a police woman in Narromine," officers said.
Mr Murphy is known to reside in Narromine.
Police have also called on anyone who may have witnessed this incident take place to contact Narromine Police Station on 6889 1444.
The public is advised that they can remain anonymous.
