Bushfire air tanker crew did not make a distress call before fatal crash, preliminary safety report released today finds

A preliminary safety report into the crash of a bushfire-fighting air tanker near Cooma in January in which three American air crew were killed has found no audio was recorded on its cockpit voice recorder and no distress calls were made by the crew.
