HEAVY rain fell across large parts of the region overnight with some locations receiving more than half of their usual monthly falls in less than an hour.

Rain may have drizzled during the day, but early evening was when the heavy falls started.

By 7.30am on Thursday, Dubbo had received the most rain with 36.8 millimetres recorded, with Bathurst just behind at 36.4mm.

Good falls were also recorded in Lithgow (23.8mm), Orange (21.6mm) and Mudgee (17.2mm).

Showers are expected to continue in Lithgow for the next week with a 50 to 90 per cent chance of rain each day.

The rest of the region will be mostly sunny, however, showers are predicted late on Sunday and into Monday.
