The Life and Light in the Western Region Photo Competition is back for another year with $3400 up for grabs in prize money.
It has been running for over 20 years and allows budding photographers to capture the beauty, diversity and uniqueness of the region.
Hosted by the Local Land Services and Western Landcare NSW, entries to this year's competition opens on May 1 and will close 10 weeks later on July, 10.
This year's theme is 'Love Our Outback', which aims to showcase the diversity of the western region and the many reasons why people love the outback and continue to live and visit here.
"Photographers are encouraged to capture the aspects of the region that they love most, and it is hoped they will include both agricultural and environmental perspectives," an LLS spokesperson said.
With everything going on in the world due to COVID-19, organisers are hopeful the competition becomes a way for people to feel connected.
"This photo competition has been very important to many people over a long period of time and in these unprecedented times we hope it can be used by people to feel connected with the people, environment, vast landscapes, animals, the different industries and so forth with the Western region," the LLS spokesperson said.
"Additionally, while it is difficult for people to travel to or within the region to take photos, we fully encourage people living within the region to take advantage of the additional time at home and use the opportunity to get some photos to submit into this competition.
"It might be a great option for parent's currently home schooling their kids."

There will be a colour and black and white categories for secondary school aged photographers.
Primary school aged children will also have the opportunity to enter into the colour plus black and white categories.
