Mr Renshaw has signed on as the ambassador for the 2020 Ride for Country Kids charity fundraiser.
The annual event was scheduled for May, but due to the COVID-19 health crisis has been postponed to take place in September.
The cyclists will travel across Dubbo, Narromine, Nyngan and Cobar with the aim of raising funds for Royal Far West, who support rural and remote families and children in need of health care.
"I thought it was a good idea to work with a charity that is more regionally based and I liked the fact that they're out in the central west," he explained on why he came on board as ambassador.
"It's a great opportunity to do something for the country people."
Mr Renshaw recently relocated back to Australia after living about 20 years overseas in Monaco.
Upon retiring from professional racing at the end of 2019, he and his family have moved back to Bathurst.

The Tour de France cyclist said he was looking forward to getting out to the remote areas with the other riders and will kickstart his training over winter in preparation for the spring event.
He said he has only ever been as far west as Dubbo, so was looking forward to getting out to the more rural areas.
"It's going to be nice getting out to those areas.... it's going to be interesting to ride out there and see what it's like," the cyclist said.
Mr Renshaw said he's been fortunate his family have never had serious health problems, and cannot imagine what it must be like for those children in rural areas who need urgent medical support.
"I cannot imagine the pain and the heartache," he said.
"It feels nice to help a charity that is working with country people because I know how hard it is (to get to Sydney for treatment) and if you had the stress of a child that is unwell it would be super difficult..."
