DOGS and spotlights on a property in the Orana region have led to police calling for public information into the incident.

NSW Police officers are investigating a report of illegal hunting and trespassing on a property on Napier Lane at Ulamambri, north-east of Dubbo, on the evening of August 29.

"The landholder heard dogs and saw spotlights on his property," state rural crime coordinator Detective Inspector Cameron Whiteside said.

"He approached the offender/s and they fled the location."

Detective Inspector Whiteside has urged anyone with information about this incident, or anyone who saw any people or vehicles acting suspiciously in this area, to contact Coonabarabran Police Station on 6842 7299 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
