CABLES and slings used by many industries to lift materials are the speciality of award-winning Tamworth company Andromeda Industries.

Based in Charles Street, Moonbi, the company has proved to be an innovator in the wire rope industry.

It was Raymond J McLaren, of Moonbi, who invented and designed the Superflex cables and the machines to manufacture them, as well as the termination systems, in the 1970s.

Andromeda's special field is the design and manufacture of plaited and woven steel cables for the rigging gear and in-house termination system.

These products have been adapted, improved and the product range broadened over time to today.

They have always been well received by the market.

From here, the product range has grown to now be able to supply to the world the superflex cable by increasing the cable size and lifting capacity, enabling supply of slings capable of lifting upwards of 300t.

In fact, in May last year Andromeda Industries manufactured Australia's largest woven sling for a one-off 300 tonne lift, using two woven strops, setting a first for Australia.

Andromeda Industries rubber belt division is committed to helping the environment, reducing waste and saving energy by reusingused conveyor belt from Australian coalmines.

The main product of this division of Andromeda is SPLITBELT.

This is a very strong, durable, light and easy to handle product with more than 102 different applications and available in different lengths, width and thickness.

Andromeda Industries also stocks a number of brand new rubber based productsfor a variety of applications.

It is very popular in the livestock and equine industry to line yards, arenas, stables, cattle races and crushes for protection of stock and it has a long lifespan as it is strong as it has ply through the centre and doesn't deteriorate in the weather.

Andromeda has invented a unique process to split the conveyor belt into various thickness, widths and lengths.

Andromeda's range of Holeybelt 20 and Envirobelt 40 have been utilised for erosion control and to drive heavy vehicles over bushy tracks to prevent damage to the natural habitat.

All products at Andromeda are tested to Australia standards before being dispatched to customers.

Andromeda testing facility now ranges 1 tonne to 300 tonne with the installation of its new 300T test bed.
