Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra followed Crowe's lead in the ensuing years and now Parramatta has gone the same way in a move that has infuriated a large section of its fan base.
An Eels supporter has set-up an online petition aimed at getting the cheer squad reinstated, but the club won't be reversing the decisions despite 3000 signatures being collected so far.

And they appear here to stay. Expertly choreographed and managed by Monique Carroll, wife of ex-Sea Eagles Mark "Spudd" Carroll, the club has no intention of following others and sidelining the Seabirds.
"The Seabirds are important to our club, our community and our fans," Manly owner Scott Penn told this column. "Monique has been an inspirational leader of the Seabirds for over 25 years, and has helped the Seabirds become an integral part of the Sea Eagles' game day entertainment and engagement as well as our community involvement."
