The accolades continue to roll in for Dubbo’s star cyclist Megan Dunn, who’s just been nominated for the Mavic Track Cyclist of the Year award.

Dunn’s local coach Garry “Gus” Dawson said the teenage cyclist is going “from strength to strength” and will only improve in the next few years.
“It’s a great honour for her, particularly to be named in the same category as Kaarle McCulloch and Anna Meares,” he said.
“Last week she was named one of the top three or four athletes in NSW, now she’s received this nomination - it just shows she’s really starting to gain recognition.”
Dawson said he thinks Dunn has a great chance of winning the prize, but the mere fact she was nominated for such a prestigious title shouldn’t be overlooked.
“The others in her category are the current world champions and world record holders,” he said.
“Megan’s career’s just starting, so even if she doesn’t get it, to be up against Meares and McCulloch is extraordinary.”
Dawson has also been personally recognised in the Cycling Australia Coaching Award category, which he admitted is “a bit of an honour”.
The Dubbo cycling coach will be heading to Melbourne on Monday for the ceremony, but said the trip has come at a bad time.
“I’ve been off work for four months now with an injury and have just returned ... now I’m taking more time off to go to Melbourne,” he said.
Gus couldn’t speculate about whether he’ll pick up the award himself.
“We’ll have to wait and see,” he said.
The Jayco 2010 Australian Cyclist of the Year Awards will be held at Sofitel in Melbourne on December 5.
